Quality-checked station data for Austria in annual resolution (v2)

Description

Public

This dataset contains only derived climatological parameters on an annual basis, calculated from hourly, daily and monthly values, and together with the datasets Quality-checked station data for Austria in daily resolution (v2) and Quality-checked station data for Austria in monthly resolution (v2), it covers the contents of the historical ZAMG yearbooks.

The compilation and calculation of this data is based on historical specifications and is intended to enable comparability with old data. The data set is updated weekly on the basis of the underlying databases, whereby annual data can only be calculated from complete data. Location or sensor changes usually lead to an interruption in the data series, so for sound climatological evaluations, the HISTALP data set with homogenised station data and derived data sets must be used. Ongoing data verification may result in retroactive data changes. The quality status of individual parameters can be found in the quality flag with the name suffix _flag.

The data in this dataset was collected via the TAWES measurement network and the records of weather and climate observers at GeoSphere Austria. Measurements are sent as unverified ten-minute and one-minute data to GeoSphere Austria, where they are then subjected to various automatic checks depending on their type and nature. Suspicious values are forwarded to the experts at GeoSphere Austria for manual verification. After a maximum of 1-3 working days, suspicious measurement data is corrected, supplemented or deleted according to meteorological criteria. The annual data from the measurements is stored as a derived variable (sum, mean value, extreme value, etc.) depending on the parameter.
