APOLIS-v2: Daily data for solar radiation for Austria

Description

Public

The data set is generated by GeoSphere Austria's STRAHLGRID radiation model. It covers various radiation variables, including sunshine duration and near-surface short-wave radiation components such as direct and diffuse radiation, on both real and horizontal surface. The sum of these two components yields global radiation. The model takes into account atmospheric turbidity, cloud cover, and horizon shading. The daily totals of the radiation variables are calculated on a 100x100m grid for the whole of Austria. The data set is updated daily.

The domain has been expanded. As part of this process, the terrain data was updated and the derived parameters were recalculated. The calculation routine for the sky view factor has also been corrected. The modules for processing aerosol input data and for transmission calculations were evaluated and enhanced. Known artificial artefacts were identified and removed.
