Short-Term Weather Forecasts for Austria

Description

Public

The short-term forecasts are based on the INCA analysis and nowcasting system. The INCA analysis and nowcasting system uses all available data sources, including station observations, remote sensing data, numerical weather prediction models and a high-resolution terrain model, to produce the most accurate analysis of the current state of the near-surface atmosphere. These data sources can most easily be interpreted as a correction of a gridded background field with observation data. INCA is used for flood warning and forecasting, as well as providing the basis for web portals with spatially and temporally detailed meteorological information. This dataset contains forecasts with a spatial resolution of 1 km x 1 km, a temporal resolution of 15 minutes, and a forecast horizon of 3 hours. The model's orography is available via this link.

The short-range forecasts are based on the INCA analysis and nowcasting system. INCA uses a variety of data sources, including station observations, remote sensing data, numerical weather prediction models and a high-resolution terrain model, to provide the best possible analysis of the current state of the near-surface atmosphere, as well as short-range forecasts. This combination of data sources can be interpreted as a correction of a gridded background field using observational data. Forecasts in this dataset are 1 km x 1 km resolution, 15 minute temporal resolution and 3 hour forecast horizon.
