Natural Hazard Overview & Risk Assessment Austria (HORA)-v1: Heat Layer

Description

Public

The gridded datasets for various heat indicators describe their spatial distribution in Austria with a spatial resolution of 1 x 1 km. The calculated values represent the average number of days per year during the 1991–2020 climate period. Datasets for the following four heat indicators (based on SPARTACUS temperature) are available: Number of hot days (su30, Tmax ≥ 30 °C), number of extreme hot days (su35, Tmax ≥ 35 °C), number of tropical nights (tr20, Tmin ≥ 20 °C), and number of days in Kysely episodes (kys, according to Kysely 2004, at least 3 consecutive days with Tmax ≥ 30°C, persisting for as long as the average Tmax over the period remains ≥30°C and no day records a Tmax ≤ 25 °C). The datasets are presented on HORA (Natural Hazard Overview & Risk Assessment Austria). A detailed description of the datasets can be found in the project report.
