The Air Quality Index (AQI) is an indicator of pollutant levels and can be considered a measure of the impact on human health. The forecasts are based on simulations using the WRF-Chem model (grid resolution: 3 x 3 km). The calculation of the Air Quality Index incorporates predicted concentrations of various pollutants (ozone, nitrogen dioxide, particulate matter). The categories range from “very good” to “extremely poor” and correspond to those of the Air Quality Index of the European Environment Agency (EEA).
