This dataset contains: monthly climatologies of mean, maximum and minimum temperatures, global radiation, precipitation, precipitation as snow; monthly climatologies of frequencies of hot and cold days, precipitation days, multiday(3) precipitation days, storm days; and seasonal climatologies of intensity-duration-frequency curves of precipitation; on the original ÖKS15 grid
COIN2 (COst of INaction 2) aims to quantify the future costs of not mitigating climate change, that would specifically affect Austria. To that end bias-corrected and down-scaled climate projections from the EURO-CORDEX ensemble are used to generate input data for a diverse set of impact models, spanning sectors from forestry and agriculture, health, water supply, tourism, etc.

mean daily temperature (tas), minimum (tn) and maximum (tx) daily temperature, mean daily global radiation (rsds), daily precipitation sums (pr) were used to generate the monthly climatologies, climatologies of frequencies (freq) and intensity-duration-frequency curves. Mean daily 10m wind speed for storm day frequency (stormfreq) was available for 4 fewer models and thresholds were set to 5m/s or to 11.11m/s respectively. 3 distinct time periods were chosen: 2001-2020 (present), 2041-2060 (2050) and 2071-2090 (2080).
Precipitation intensity-duration-frequency (idf) parameters were generated using lmoments3 (https://lmoments3.readthedocs.io/stable/) with seasonal Block Maxima of the precipitation amounts over the respective duration (1 day, 5 days). Snow was estimated as precipitation falling on days with an average daily temperature <0°C. Cold days are defined as days with tn < 0°C, hot days with tx > 30°C. Precipitation days were defined as days with precipitation sum > 1mm.
