This dataset contains: mean monthly climatology (May-October) of min-, max- and mean temperatures, global radiation, relative humidity and dewpoint temperature, alongside the calculated heatindex and wet bulb globe temperature, population weighted and aggregated per Bezirk
COIN2 (COst of INaction 2) aims to quantify the future costs of not mitigating climate change, that would specifically affect Austria. To that end bias-corrected and down-scaled climate projections from the EURO-CORDEX ensemble are used to generate input data for a diverse set of impact models, spanning sectors from forestry and agriculture, health, water supply, tourism, etc.

mean daily temperature (tas), minimum (tn) and maximum (tx) daily temperature, mean daily global radiation (rsds); and from DISCC-AT (https://doi.org/10.60669/gbdv-gq54) the wet bulb globe temperature (wbgt), dewpoint temperature (td) and relative humidity (hurs) were used to generate the monthly climatologies for the extended warm season months May to October and to calculate the heat index (hi) (https://unidata.github.io/MetPy/latest/api/generated/metpy.calc.heat_index.html). 3 distinct time periods were chosen: 2001-2020 (present), 2041-2060 (2050) and 2071-2090 (2080). The obtained gridcell values are averaged to one value per Bezirk (https://data.statistik.gv.at/data/OGDEXT_POLBEZ_1_STATISTIK_AUSTRIA_20250101.zip), as csv-files.
Also included here are the monthly mean climatologies and the daily mean, max, min and dewpoint temperatures and the heatindex from Spartacus (2007-2022), population weighted per Bezirk and flagged for Kysely-days and hot days TX >30°C.
Additionally, we screened for each selected models year with the longest heatwave (consecutive days TX >30°C) within each period. For these extreme example years the daily tas, tn, tx and rsds were again aggregated to one value per Bezirk.
