In addition to bias-corrected climate scenarios, a number of climate indicators have been calculated in the ClimaProof project for the scenarios RCP2.6, RCP4.5, and RCP8.5. They represent critical events for infrastructure and were designed together with experts from the relevant fields such as road infrastructure or hydrology.
The following indicators have been calculated: Concecutive Dry Days This file contains the number of days and maximum period length of consecutive dry days (daily precipitation sum < 1 mm) for different period lengths during the summer half-year (Apr-Sep) (Period 1981-2100); Drought and Heat This file contains annual number of days that are within consecutive dry periods of different thresholds and hava a maximum temperature of >= 30°C (Period 1981-2100); Extreme Wind Annual sum of days exceeding the 99.9 percentile of daily wind speeds in the reference period 1981-2010 (Period 1981-2096); Freeze-thaw-days Monthly sum of days with tmin <= -2.2 °C and tmax > 0 °C (Period 1981-2100); Heat Days The file contains indicators for different thresholds of daily maximum air temperature (Period 1981-2100); Landslides Annual sum of days exceeding either 1-, 2-, or 3-day precipitation sum thresholds calculated after Moser and Hohensinn (1983). DOI: https://doi.org/10.1016/0013-7952(83)90003-0 (Period 1981-2100); Precipitation Intensity 99.9 percentile of daily precipitation sums over 30-year periods (Period 2010-2100); Snow Days This file contains indicators for different thresholds of daily precipitatation sums on days with mean temperature below 0°C (Period 1981-2100); Extreme Wind Annual sum of days exceeding the 99.9 percentile of daily wind speeds in the reference period 1981-2010 (Period 1981-2100).

The data contained in this dataset was first published through the Climate Change Centre Austria Data Centre (CCCA-DC). Due to the decommissioning of the CCCA-DC, the data was transferred to the GeoSphere Austria Datahub in 2024. During the transfer, the granularity and structure of the metadata were adjusted in accordance with the dataset's authors to meet the requirements of the GeoSphere Austria Datahub. The data itself remained unchanged. For further inquiries, please contact datenzentrum@ccca.ac.at. |
